Abstract
In this paper we argued that the viability of the EMP calls for an emphasis on its cultural component. Unless, Euro-Mediterranean cultural cooperation is upgraded to a level of the other “baskets,” and linked with progress in them, the projected partnership is not likely to endure. Further, the sustainability of the EMP will largely depend on the pursuit of a truly multi-cultural and multi-dimensional cultural paradigm. For centuries, civilizations and cultures have prospered and co-existed on both shores of the Mediterranean.
