Since 2007 the IMS is a member of the Humanities Korea Project supported by the Korea Research Foundation. The Humanities Korea Project has launched in order to foster studies in Liberal Arts. The IMS is supported to promote research that will advance the boundaries of Liberal Arts and International Area Studies. The IMS was able to succeed in tough competition between more than fifty research institutions and associations. The purposes of the Humanities Korea Project are to establish a base for research in the university and to support research fellows by providing an advanced infrastructure in the institute. The project also intends to supplement, deepen, individualize and enhance the educational specialisation of the institute through ongoing in-depth research
